Congress wants Bush to pull US troops out of Iraq

President Bush’s plan to increase the American military presence in Iraq is facing resistance from the new Democrat-led U.S. Congress.

$9.4M for 34 Vulcan Cannons on Super Hornets

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products in Burlington, VT received a $9.4 million modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract (N00421-05-C-0110) to exercises an option for the procurement of 34 M61A2 20 mm Automatic Gun Systems for the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft. Work will be performed in Burlington, VT and is expected to be complete in October 2008. The Naval Air Systems Command Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, MD issued the contract. B-52 Stratofortress

The B-52H BUFF [Big Ugly Fat Fellow] is the primary nuclear roled bomber in the USAF inventory. It provides the only Air Launch Cruise Missile carriage in the USAF. The B-52H also provides theater CINCs with a long range strike capability. The bomber is capable of flying at high subsonic speeds at altitudes up to 50,000 feet (15,000 meters). F-16 Fighting Falcon

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multirole fighter aircraft. It is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack. It provides a relatively low-cost, high-performance weapon system for the United States and allied nations.

In an air combat role, the F-16’s maneuverability and combat radius (distance it can fly to enter air combat, stay, fight and return) exceed that of all potential threat fighter aircraft. It can locate targets in all weather conditions and detect low flying aircraft in radar ground clutter. In an air-to-surface role, the F-16 can fly more than 500 miles (860 kilometers), deliver its weapons with superior accuracy, defend itself against enemy aircraft, and return to its starting point. Babur - Pakistan’s Cruise Missile

On the 12th of August 2005, Pakistan announced that it successfully tested its first cruise missile, named Babur, meaning “Tiger”. It propelled Pakistan into an exclusive group of ten countries that operate cruise missiles, and an even more exclusive group of countries that can develop and manufacture them. Babur Missile
