M299 Missile Launcher PDF Print E-mail

Now under contract to the US Army, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control and Marvin Engineering Company have partnered to refurbish M272 launcher airframes, produce new electronics, and integrate them to deliver digital M299 "smart" launchers to the US Army. This state-of-the-art digital design allows the M299 to interface with a variety of helicopters, and allows it to recognize and fire all AGM-114 HELLFIRE missile variants and DAGRTM -equipped rockets, as well as the Joint Common Missile. Designed for ease of maintenance, the M299 comprises four line replaceable units, which can be replaced by an aviation unit with a 30-minute mean-time-to-repair. The launcher is compatible with fielded test sets to further simplify maintenance.
