Congress wants Bush to pull US troops out of Iraq

President Bush’s plan to increase the American military presence in Iraq is facing resistance from the new Democrat-led U.S. Congress.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., are urging Bush to begin withdrawing American soldiers from Iraq in four to six months.

“After nearly four years of combat, tens of thousands of U.S. casualties, and over $300 billion dollars, it is time to bring the war to a close,” they said.
